Challenge Post: The professional mani

I managed to pick 2 possible options for this manicure. If you remember, when getting a professional manicure, I have to use my own polishes.

So off to Platinum Studio we go! Rabbit was getting his hair cut by Sarah, while I got my nails done by Crystal.

We decided on the Revlon Ocean Breeze, with Funky Fingers Gold Scales crackle over top.

The Revlon is supposed to be scented when dry, but I honestly don't smell anything except nail polish. Also, for being what I consider a "cheapie" brand, I like how the Funky Fingers crackles...erm... crackle more so than the others I have tried.

All in all, I think Crystal did a great job! Thanks!!!!

Why are my actual challenge post so short?

Oh god I have a problem...

TL; DR: I bought a crap load more polish.

Seriously? It hasn't even been a WEEK since I have frolicked (yes, I frolicked ask Rabbit... I dragged him along) into Sally Beauty Supply.

I TRIED to be strong. But the pull was too great. THERE WERE SALES!!!! Needless to say... I have pictures!
 Sally Haul 01/04
Sale 1: Buy a bottle of Seche Vite, get a free China Glaze (I got Tarnished Gold, a crackle) the whitish Orly on the right is Au Champagne, it was on clearance. I had it in my basket on Saturday, but decided against it. Since it was still there, I decided it was fate. More on the glitters in a bit...

Sale 2: Buy 3 Orly polishes, get $5 off (from L to R: Velvet Rope, Girly, and Wild Wisteria) I also got a bottle of Nina Ultra Pro in Emerald City. It was $2.99, so I figured I would give it a shot.
To the right of that is Finger Paints FLASHY! My second flakie! This was the LAST bottle of the special effects in the store. I spoke to the girl working and she said they put an order in to get every color. I am just going to admit now that I am going to get the other three...

I had spied these loose glitters on Saturday, as I was checking out. Since I don't didn't have any loose glitters, I thought now was a good time... Top L to R: Fuschia-licous, Gold Digger. Bottom L to R: Lavish Lavender, Blue Lagoon, Gleaming Green. I'm super excited to try these... in about 3 months...

Remember: CHALLENGE SAYS I CANNOT USE ANY NEW POLISH UNTIL I HAVE USED EVERYTHING I HAVE HAD AS OF 01/01/12...

This is where the serious "you need an intervention, and rehab" thoughts come in...
We had to stop at Dollar General to get trash bags. I went straight to the cosmetics section...

This all cost less than $10.00. Art Deco liners in Baby Pink and Magenta. 2 Kiss art stickers (both the same) and 2 bottles of Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear in Ivy League and Flirt.
These colors are so opposite. Ivy League is a bright, and Flirt is a dark dark, maroon color. Hooray for me!

Now... Sorry for the long post. I get excited... I have to pick out some nail colors to take with to get my manicure. I am apparently not allowed to use their polishes, because that would be cheating!

My First Award!

HOORAY!

I received a Liebster Blog Award award from Jonochi at Just Add Polish! Thanks so much! This award is such a great idea, and gave a real boost to my day, and ego!

"Liebster is a German word, meaning dearest or beloved, but it can also mean favorite.  The idea behind the Liebster Blog Award is that it is given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers in order to create new connections and bring attention to these wonderful blogs!"

The Rules are:
1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal the five blogs you have chosen and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award onto your blog.
4. Request that people you have sent the award to forward it on to their favorite bloggers.

The bloggers I choose for this award are:
Ashesela over at ArtEvolve (love your work, I'm a big fan)
Diaries of a Sephoraphobe (It's great to see how your concur your "fear" next!)
Laura at The Thing I Like Now (Nice to know I am not the only one just learning)
Charlotte-Louise at Charlottes-Nails (From "across the pond, we share an obsession!)
KB at No More Nail Biting (Because I used to be a biter too, and know how hard it is to quit)

My nail nightmare

Everyday, in everything that I do, I worry. I check and double check. Chips? Breakage? Oh GOD not breakage! My nails have become my identity. Both thumbs have already been cut the whole way off.  had to be cut back due to a break at the "wick". My left index finger had a small peel, but I managed to buff it down.

I have no idea what I will do if one of my nails breaks. I know the feeling will be weird, and almost impossible to deal with... which would mean... *GASP* I would have to cut ALL of my nails back.

I know... it is a silly little thing... but you all know how I feel right?

So my question is... What would YOU do?

Boring... kinda... [Challenge Post]

My manicure for tonight is a simple one color, 2 coat polish. Rabbit chose China Glaze "Thataway", which is a creamsicley orange. It is quite pretty, and has a nice shimmer to it. It covered well with 1 coat, and looks perfect with two (and the requisite coat of Seche Vite.)

Super close up to try to show you the shimmeriness.
Ignore the cuticles, I didn't put oil on before taking the pictures.

This would look even better with a few nail gems, but since I am getting a professional [read: one I have to pay for...] manicure on Thursday, I just wanted to keep it simple.

Added Bonus!
I found a little basket which is perfect for my essentials. Orly Nail Armor base coat, assorted nail files, clippers, brushes, a corrector pen, and my "Used" stickers.

Pretty Neat, huh?

I'll try to post my full list of current polishes tomorrow, but that's it for now!

Drum roll please...

Day One of Challenge!
China Glaze "Dorothy Who?" over China Glaze "Shower Together"

I got Dorothy Who yesterday, and was so excited about it, that I just had to use it today. There is so much sparkle in it that I can't stop staring at my nails.

Again, my cell phone does not do this justice. The amount of sparkle and reflection in Dorothy Who? is AMAZING.

Just a short post for tonight, since I am tired and stuffed with pork, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes... yum.
